We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.

Blood Tests

Available between 8.00 – 15.30, before samples are transported to the Hospital lab.

This is a 5 minute appointment.

Long Term Condition Annual Reviews

All patients with a long-term condition (Chronic Heart Disease, Diabetes, Asthma are examples of a long-term condition) should have an annual review to monitor and provide support and treatment to manage their condition.

Those eligible will be invited once a year for this appointment, usually in or around the patient’s month of birth.

It is important that this appointment is kept so that we can provide the best care and support to manage these conditions.

This is a 20 minute appointment.

NHS Health Check

Health check-up for adults aged 40-74 designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, or dementia.

The NHS Health check helps find ways to lower the risk and eligible patients can have this check done every five years.

This is a 20 minute appointment.

Cervical Smear

For women aged 25-64 years, to check the health of your cervix and help prevent cancer.

This is a 20 minute appointment.

IUCD & Implant Fitting

For long term contraception.

This is a telephone appointment with Dr Bintcliffe and then a 30 minute face to face appointment.

Emergency Contraception & Contraceptive Pill Checks

To help avoid unplanned pregnancies.

Ring Pessary Fitting

To help women manage pelvic support.

This is a 30 minute appointment.

Smoke Stop Clinic

If you are a smoker, stopping smoking can make a big difference to your health. It can improve your chances of living longer.

We can offer on-going support consultations with a trained advisor and advice on, and supply of, stop smoking medicines that are most appropriate.

Travel Vaccinations

We offer travel health advice and can tailor vaccination schedules to provide the vaccinations and antimalarials that may be needed depending on your destination.

Minor Injuries and Dressings for Ulcers

We can provide a dressing care for leg ulcers and minor cute, burns, stitch removal and hospital discharge wound management.

Child Immunisations

The immunisation programme gives vaccines to babies and children at different ages to provide immunity and protect them from infections

Vaccinations

Shingles vaccine – For all adults aged 70-79 to help prevent Post-hepatic neuralgia which is a painful and debilitating condition that can impair quality of life.

Pneumococcal Vaccination – For children under 5 years, adults aged 65+ and other age groups with certain medical conditions or risk factors. It protects against serious and potentially fatal pneumonia infections

Meningitis ACWY – For patients aged 13-24. It protects against 4 strains of meningitis and blood poisoning. This group are most at risk of meningococcal disease.

Influenza Vaccination – For patients of all ages with certain health conditions or at risk, adults over 50 years old, children aged 2or 3 and all primary school aged children Flu can be dangerous or even life threatening for older people, the very young, pregnant women, those with a chronic health condition, those who are immunosuppressed and carers.

HPV – For children aged 12-13 to help protect against cancers caused by HPV virus. These vaccinations are offered at school but if your child misses either of the two doses we can give these at the surgery.

Pertussis – Pregnant women can help protect their babies by getting vaccinated between 16-32 weeks of pregnancy. Whooping cough can be very severe and even fatal for young babies.

Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR) Vaccination – Offered to children at age 1 and then the at aged 3 years. Also, any adult who has not had 2 doses of the vaccine should get vaccinated. These conditions can lead to serious problems including meningitis, hearing loss and problems during pregnancy.

Private Medicals

We can provide private medical reports for insurance companies, sporting activities, firearms licences, HGV/PSV medical etc.

Please contact reception to arrange for medicals and any appointments needed for these to be booked.

A charge is payable for this service as it is not covered by the NHS contract.
